About the Nutrition Course
Exercise is Medicine®: A Global Health Initiative
The vision of Exercise is Medicine® (EIM), a global health initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), is to make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in clinical care, patient care and client interaction; connecting health care with evidence-based physical activity resources for people everywhere and of all abilities.
EIM encourages physicians and other health care providers to include physical activity when designing treatment plans and to direct patients to evidence-based exercise programs and qualified exercise professionals. EIM is committed to the belief that physical activity promotes optimal health and is integral in the prevention and treatment of many medical conditions.
Exercise is Medicine® (SA) Accreditation:
One of the main aims of EIM over the world is to get healthcare providers to monitor exercise habits, similar to recording vital signs in all patients.
Understand the benefits of regular exercise in the prevention and management of a broad spectrum of diseases, and to give them the means to prescribe it or refer to the appropriate fitness professional.
Wherever this has been introduced into healthcare systems, it has already had profound effects on health promotion and cost!
9 CORE Modules
The Exercise is Medicine Accreditation has 9 CORE Modules. The entire accreditation can be purchased or purchased in a modular format over an 18 month period. Completion of all 9 Core modules within 18 months is required in order to achieve the Accreditation.
